John Stockwell's direction had always been nothing short of stunning up until this point. His composition and use of light against tinted lenses were stylish and always beautiful. It's a shame then that all his films are terrible due to either having a crap story-line and/or awful script. Into the Blue is an exception. The acting isn't great and neither is the script but the story-line is solid and it is entertaining throughout and full of suspense. Certainly the best diving film made for quite a while.
