Is it a Bird?... Is it a Plane?...no, it's possibly the worst musical ever made and an absolute sacrilege to the Superman name. Okay, so it was never meant to be taken seriously and to be fair, it does have a couple of fairly catchy songs but overall it's a bit of a head scratcher. The idea of a silly and somewhat camp Superman musical does appeal to me but this isn't that, it's silly and camp but also dreadfully boring. If anything, it's just not silly enough, it's like the worst kind of am-dram production and is a bit of a wasted opportunity. I know a few people who have been members of theatre groups at high schools and clubs etc that have put on performances of the show and they've all said it was the best and most enjoyable thing they've ever done but all have admitted they left out the dud songs and camped it up 100%. When you'd much rather watch your friends act it out in a local church hall, you know a film is bad.
