When a film is popular then of course you'd look into making a follow up to cash in on. Not everyone thought it was a good idea obviously but that rarely stops Hollywood. Evan Almighty made no sense what so ever. Everything in this film was stupid and pointless. Why did Evan grow a beard, why did he have to build an Ark, what was the reason for the flood, utter nonsense. Let's make the film and not worry too much on the story. I hope Carell, Freeman and Goodman got paid well for this (I'm sure they did) because this film is nothing short of dire.

The idea behind Bruce Almighty is intriguing. What if you could be God for just one day. The possibilities are endless, literally anything could be possible. About 10 minutes worth of the film explores several clever scenarios that could happen; what would happen if everyone won the lottery, what would happen if you gave the one you love the Moon, all result in funny scenes but for that interesting 10 minutes you have to put up with a whole 90 minutes of Jim Carrey's face gurning antics and a script that sounds like it was written by a 12 year old. An immature and easily distracted 12 year old at that.

There are three types of people in the world. Those that love Jim Carrey and find him funny, those that loath Jim Carrey and find him annoying and then there is those, like me, that want to punch the TV and throw it out the window when his name is merely mentioned (he doesn't even have to be on the TV that has been punched and thrown to warrant this reaction). Ace Ventura made it possible for unamusing and downright dire films that would have otherwise gone straight to video, get cinema releases. I look at Jim Carrey and wonder why it is that Mimes get such a rough deal, at least they don't make noise! The spoof of The Crying Game (a Cinephile Crocodile favorite) was enough on it's own to make me want to hate it and hate it passionately, I do.
