Outland
Dir: Peter Hyams
1981
****
A sci-fi version of High Noon set in deep space with an early 80's industrial vision of the future, a great soundtrack and some great performances. Connery is very good in what was a very different role for him, Sterhagen is brilliant and Berkoff was at his psychotic best. Underrated by many and passed off as just another forgettable sci-fi but it's a really good thriller and is beautifully directed. A logical progression respectfully done with obvious affection to the original.
