Finding Mrs. Claus
Dir: Mark Jean
2012
**
After 500 years of marriage, Mr and Mrs Klaus go through a
bit of a rough patch. Santa forgets their anniversary and Mrs Santa receives a
letter from a little girl asking that she helps her find a new Dad. Seeing an
opportunity to get away from it for a while and to be a little bit more
pro-active in the gifting department, Mrs Santa heads to Las Vegas and goes
about finding a suitor for little Aislyn. When Santa finds out his wife has
gone he is remorseful and heads to Vegas himself in order to win her back. Cue
Hi-jinks and much hilarity. Actually, to be fair, I've watched many rubbish
Christmas films now and this certainly isn't one of the worst. Mira Sorvino's
scatty Mrs Santa is quite sweat, Will Sasso's Santa (disguised by complete lack
of hair) is refreshingly unique and much of the humour is quite adult in its
nature, which makes for a nice change. The story is tiresomely similar to many
a 'Mrs Santa' film that's come before and the Elves are a little annoying but
it does make up for it in many ways, the Santa and prostitute scene in
particular. I really can't give it any more than two stars but for a Christmas
film two stars is really good going.
