The Christmas Bunny
Dir: Tom Seidman
2010
*
'What have bunnies got to do with Christmas?' you may ask yourself. The answer being; absolutely nothing. The Christmas Bunny has very little to do with Christmas at all in fact, other than it takes place during the festive season, the 25th itself playing a very small part in the story, fairly early on in the film. If Die Hard doesn't count as a Christmas film then neither does The Christmas Bunny quite frankly. I digress. The Christmas Bunny has all the festive themes you could hope for, including; adoption, prostitution, drug dealing, mass unemployment, search & rescue, child abuse and animal cruelty. Also a small rabbit gets shot. Unfortunately it's no where near as entertaining as all that sounds. Laughable highlights include a disgruntled atheist father figure during prayer and a scene whereby a little girl punches a doll in the face. It's supposed to be a 'Feel good' film but I'm afraid I felt nothing. Derek Brandon is in the running for the 'most annoying child in a Christmas movie' award. He's up against tough competition but he's definitely in with a chance. Avoid. No one likes Christmas or bunnies this much.
