I love Stuart Gordon and I'm a big fan of Jeffrey Combs (I once had a long conversation with him at a very nerdy convention. Nice man!). Unfortunately though, he hams it up somewhat in Castle Freak, I feel bad of saying so but it's true. It's supposed to be an ode to the old 1950's monster films and maybe a nod to Italian horror? but unfortunately it doesn't really work as either. It has its moments but overall this isn't Stuart Gordon at his best. Still, it's no Space Truckers! Yikes!
