The Amazing Spider-Man
Dir: E.W. Swackhamer
1977
***
The theme of mind power techniques was quite prominent in most of the episodes of the short lived Spider-man series starring Nicholas Hammond. The origins of Spider-man aren't explored particularly well here and Peter Parker is more of a scientist than a news paper photographer but the special effects are pretty good considering the low budget and era. I think Nicholas Hammond was a pretty decent Peter Parker too although he looked more like a children's entertainer that had just soiled his costume when in Spider-man mode. It's not very good but I love it, old American 70s/80s TV shows are awesome and this edited film version is so bad it's actually quite good.
