Blind Date
Dir: Blake Edwards
1987
**
There are moments where you can see Blake Edwards' greatness but these moments are far and few between. Maybe the 80's was to blame as somehow I can see this working in the 70's but with a completely different cast. The problem is that although the premise isn't bad, it gets completely out of control and it needed to be a lot more subtle. He's great at slapstick but Blake Edwards needed to get the script to a much higher level for it to have worked, that and the fact that the romance between the two characters is never evident or believable.
