Super Duper Alice Cooper
Dir: Sam Dunn, Reginald Harkema,Scot McFadyen
2014
****
You think you know someone and then a fantastic biopic or documentary (in this case both) comes along and suggests otherwise. Super Duper Alice Cooper is not about just one man, it's about a band, a group of fans, a revolution and basically the foundations of Rock and Roll/Punk/The 'Alternative' as we know it today. Directors Dunn, Harkema and McFadyen avoid the usual talking heads set up and have narration/interviews over original film and photos only and it works perfectly. I feel I've learned more from this documentary than I have any other for quite some time. Highlights include Alice Cooper meeting Salvador Dali, the invention of punk and John Lydon suggesting that Alice Cooper (the man) would be the greatest rock and roll icon if it weren't for his obsession with Golf. A brilliant documentary even if you're not a fan of the music.
