Gold
Dir: Niall Heery
2014
**
Gold mixes comedy and emotional drama but unfortunately, unsuccessfully. The acting is fine, as is the story and script, it's just the badly timed attempts at comedy, both in timing and form, that are misplaced. The performances are good but James Nesbit steals the show by a country mile, he is the one that suffers most from the poor timing the script delivers but he makes up for it in his portrayal of the only comic yet somewhat believable character in the film. This is not the little indie I think it set out to be, it's not without its charm but it's far from Golden.
