Ten Little Indians ( AKA And Then There Were None)
Dir: Peter Collinson
1974
***
Agatha Christie's 1970's adaptions were a fresh approach on the author's work but now seem more open to parody then the 1940s versions. They're still quite wonderful in their own unique way though. I hadn't read the book before watching the film, a good thing in this case but I certainly will. The cast is terrific and the main reason for watching. Oliver Reed, Richard Attenborough, Gert Forbe, Adolfo Celi, Herbert Lom, Stephane Audran and Orson Wells are all brilliant. Think about it, that's Bill Sykes, Big X, Golderfinger, Emilio Largo, Commissioner Dreyfus, Claude Chabrol's muse and Citizen Kane, all together in a camp murder mystery/whodunnit. It's completely flawed but a great deal of fun.
