Escape to Athena has one of the best ensemble casts ever. Roger Moore, Telly Savalas, David Niven, Claudia Cardinale, Richard Roundtree, Stefanie Powers, Sonny Bono, Elliott Gould, Michael Sheard and a William Holden cameo for good measure. That's James Bond, Kojak, James Bond again, Claudia from 81/2!!!!, Shaft, Jennifer Hart, Cher's dead husband, Trapper John McIntyre (or Father Geller for you kids), Mr. Bronson (and occasional Hitler) and Max Schumacher. It's the ultimate unlikely cast list of all time. A shame then that the film isn't all that good but it certainly isn't without it's charm. It's fair to say that Elliott Gould steals the show effortlessly.
