Rush
Dir: Ron Howard
2013
*****
A true return to best form from Ron Howard following a string of poor decisions. It's rare these days to see a truly brilliant performance, with Rush there are two. The rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda is the stuff of F1 legend. F1 is essentially a Soap Opera with fast cars, this episode is the soap opera equivalent of the episode of Dallas when JR gets shot or any of the classic episodes of Neighbors circa 1986. It isn't really, it's much better but you catch my drift. Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl are both awesome but if one of them were nominated, I'd have to give it to BruhI. Actors wouldn't have anything without a great script though and this film should definitely be considered for best of 2013. Don't care for F1? This film may change your mind, essentially it's about the two very different men rather than about fast cars. Seriously, it's impressive and thrilling in equal measure.
