Charlotte Gray
Dir: Gillian Armstrong
2001
****
Although I would have rather seen a film about the unsung Women of the Second World War without the love story, it did work well in Charlotte Gray. It's a pretty good adaptation of the book by Sebastian Faulks but why no one has ever made a film about Nancy 'White Mouse' Wake who was the real inspiration for the film is beyond me. I digress, Cate Blanchett is perfect for the role and her performances is brilliant. It is beautifully directed and I thoroughly recommend it
