The first Heavy Metal film was so bad it was good but then never tried to be anything more than it was. It knew what it was doing, how it would be received and who the audience was. Tongue was always in cheek. Heavy Metal 2 is so bad it's just bad. It has none of the charm of the first film and has very little in common apart from name and nudity. The story is dull and is devoid of humour, the 80 mins felt like 80 hours. It's puzzling how the makers thought that this is what the fans of both the film and the original comic wanted after all that time. A huge disappointment.
