I'm on the fence when it comes to Black Jack, I either love him or I hate him in most films. He doesn't seem to actually be able to act, rather he just plays himself and everyone hopes it works. In the case of School of Rock he is actually perfect. This is Black in his element. It is warm, funny and downright feel good. Richard Linklater also proves that we can switch from serious drama to fun comedy without compromising quality.
