The Croods
Dir: Kirk Di Micco & Chris Sanders
2013

There is always a certain level of success the more something is familiar. The makers of The Croods would say that was because they explore modern day social and family issues but in the guise of a neanderthal time point, suggesting that there are aspects of human life, family, that are inherent to human kind. I think that's crap though, it's basically familiar because it's like the Flintstones, although the Flintstones is miles better. Suggesting that there was once a time when Whales had legs and Piranha Fish could fly (before Piranha 2 - The Spawning) doesn't help kid's educations much either but then that would be me taking a cartoon far to seriously. It looks good yes but story-wise, it's the same old formula we've seen before - generally in animated films.
