Star Trek: Nemesis
Dir: Stuart Baird
2002

On reflection, Nemesis isn't as bad as I first thought. It's not great though and I am being kind. The cast deserved better. After an intriguing and brilliant premise, the story soon goes down hill into 'We've seen this before, done better' territory. It rustles up bits and bobs from other Star Trek films, the popular story arcs, and tries to patch them together here to make a story but it never really fits. Too much is given to the popular characters when really everyone should have had their fair amount of screen time. Towards the end it purely became the solution to Brent Spiners aging rather than a good Star Trek story. I would have liked to have seen more of Ron Pearlman and who would have thought Tom Hardy would go on to greater things after that performance? A sad end. I'd like them to do another one, it's not going to happen but it would be nice.
