Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
Dir: Oliver Stone
2010

I thought the sequel to 1987's Wall Street was refreshingly honest. It acknowledged the fact that the first film is seen as a classic by the very people it exposes at least. I don't like Shia LaBeouf or Carey Mulligan much though, I didn't think their relationship was the best way of exploring the release of the now infamous Gordon Gekko and their performances were only made to look worse thanks to the fact they were surrounded by great actors such as Michael Douglas, Frank Langella, Josh Brolin, Susan Sarandon and Eli Wallach, his addition to the cast was weird but fantastic. I think Susan Sarandon's character was probably the most realistic but everything else was a little bit nonsensical. I did like the understated Charlie Sheen cameo though, put there purely because people expected and wanted it. A bigger role or nothing would have been better. The ending was so nearly brilliant, except it was ruined right at the last minute which damaged the whole of the films integrity. Lots to appreciate but overall much to dislike. Greed is...a bit boring really.
