Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Dir: Adam McKay
2013
**
Anchorman has become a victim of it's own hype and of oversized egos. I really liked the first film but most of the cast have been living off it but never bettering it ever since. I like its comment on the change of media style and the loss of real journalism but hardly anything was funny. Certain scenes, like when Ron Burgundy goes blind and when he visits a black family, are uncomfortably unfunny. Everyone tries too hard to emulate the greatness of the first film and in the end they all look like they're not trying hard enough. The overkill of cameos just goes to show how hard up for ideas they really are. I liked the scenes with Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig but that's about all.
