Vito
Dir: Jeffrey Schwarz
2011
*****
At first I thought that this film could have been a little more in depth and maybe it could have had a little more time devoted to Stonewall but in retrospect they were right to just concentrate on Vito himself (Stonewall needs it's own film). His cousin whom he was very close to said to him on his deathbed, "When you meet St Peter at the gates of heaven and he asks what you've done you can tell him you made the world a little better for all mankind". She's right, he did. He stood up and fought for equality and raised many issues and probably saved many lives. He was the purist of activists, his work was selfless and yet he isn't particularly well known. For that sake I hope people see this film and remember him as the great man that he was.
