Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa
Dir: Jeff Tremaine
2013
***
Bad Grandpa is crude and a bit grubby and I didn't like it at all. Who am I kidding. It is puerile and often takes the joke too far but when it gets it right, it really gets it right and I confess I let our more than a couple of belly laughs. I liked Jackass back in the day but Knoxville's Irving Zisman character was probably one of my least favorite elements, it's to his credit that he has turned one of the weaker sketches into something so strong. A page has been taken out of Sasha Baron Cohen/Larry Charles book but it's brilliantly executed. Although it has to be said, without the brilliant young Jackson Nicoll it would have failed miserably. Good (but not clean) fun.
