Consenting Adults
Dir: Alan J. Pakula
1992

Alan J. Pakula's 90's thriller Consenting Adults, fails to capture the classic noir style it sets out to achieve and is another good example of what was so wrong with mainstream film in that half of the decade. None of the characters were likable or realistic, the viewer couldn't really take any of it seriously or get behind either or any character. The relationships weren't convincing either and the script was so that you'd be forgiven for thinking the married couples of 15 years + had only just met one another. Alan J. Pakula was a great director, a champion of thriller and suspense films but I'm afraid he lost it in the last few films of his career as he just couldn't seem to progress with the times. He was making great films 10 years too late.
