Ballad of the Little Soldier is a shocking and upsetting documentary about the child solders of the Miskito Indian rebel army in the early 1980's. Werner Herzog is accompanied by Denis Reichle who also adds his own wisdom to the turn of events. The scene whereby the children are putting live mortars into rockets is one of the most disturbing and edge-of-the-seat scenes I've ever seen, once again there is no need for interference and Herzog just shows it like it is like the pro he is.
