Source Code
Dir: Duncan Jones
2011
****
Moon was always going to be a tough film to better but although Source code isn't as good, it's still pretty impressive. The concept is silly nonsense but the idea is interesting and handled well. It reminded me of a Phillip K Dick story (it is K Dickian - please people, help me get this phrase into the dictionary). Intelligent Sci-fi It most certainly is. 100 times better than Déjà Vu but lacking the impact of Inception, it is still among the better Sci-fi films of recent years though by a long way. Jake Gyllenhaal is well cast and does a great job, the supporting cast of Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga and Jeffrey Wright also deserve mention. The ending wasn't to every bodies taste it seems but I thought it was pretty well done, after all, all the best Scf-fi endings are always sad right!?
