Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm
Dir: Eric Radomski
1993
****
I remember when Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm first came out, it was around the same time as Batman returns and Tim Burton was the man of the moment. It keeps Burton's dark noir and Art Nouveau styles, it could have been animated by Edward Hopper. On a recent viewing, it still stands up against the test of time and should be credited with influencing and leading the way for other great animated series. It's far better than Batman forever and Batman & Robin anyway - although that's not very hard to achieve. An old favorite that still feels fresh.
