Lamb
Dir: Colin Gregg
1986
*****
Lamb, for the most part, is a sweet and innocent story of a man doing what is just and good, not from fear or from a sense of duty but quite simply because it's the right thing to do. That is until reality catches up with him and things aren't always as black and white as they seem or should be, that is when this film turns unexpectedly dark, with a conclusion that is both shocking and unpredictable. This is an awesome film, criminally overlooked but certainly won't be to everyone's tastes. I've never heard of the author Bernard McLaverty so I have no idea if it reflects his style or if it is a good adaptation of his novel but if like a bit of Thomas Hardy, then this one should be to your liking.
