The Fall of the Louse of Usher: A Gothic Tale for the 21st Century (AKA Ken Russell's The Fall of the Louse of Usher)
Dir: Ken Russell
2002
***
The Fall of the Louse of Usher is a very strange film but when Ken Russel does Edgar Allen Poe it was never going to be anything other! It's a weird mix of Student film (albeit a good student film), amateur porn film (albeit a very bad amateur porn film), Cheap horror, Benny Hill sketch and any 60's sex comedy. Oh, with a bit of rock music to boot. It's fair so say that this isn't a great film in the classical sense. Ken Russell has made some amazing films and while this isn't one of them, to its credit it is never boring and is often very funny - although unintentionally in most places. So bad it's good and a lot of low-budget fun. It's really not as bad as you may have heard but it is as peculiar!
