Container
Dir: Lukas Moodysson
2006
**
The editing in Container is fantastic. It also works well as an ode to the experimental cinema of the USA in the 1960's, Warhol's films in particular. It isn't very good though. I think it's actually quite offensive to the very people it's depicting, if that's what Moodysson is aiming for then it is perfect. Gender identity is a very real condition, here it's passed off as a fad of delusion, confusion and abnormality, something that might happen if you read the gossip magazines a little too often. I don't detect an ounce of sarcasm either, niethre do I think it's a particularly clever or relevant take on societies collective conscious. This is a short story that has overstayed its welcome and has very little point to it. Moodysson has become a victim of his own reputation. I bloody hate whispering narrative too.
