McCullin
Dir: David Morris, Jacqui Morris
2012
*****
A shockingly honest testimony of the successful war photographer Don McCullin. You may not know who he is but the chances are you will have seen one of his photos. This is a raw and sometimes disturbing exploration of a man doing a very strange but important job. Don McCullin doesn't come across as you'd might expect from a contemporary photographer, he is far from pretentious about his work and he is admirably honest about himself and some of the things he's seen and done. It is part history lesson, part media study and part social and human studies. It is a compelling film from beginning to end and very much recommended.
