Adiós Amigo
Dir: Fred Williamson
1976
****
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Fred Williamson and Richard Pryor can do no wrong in my book. If all you see here is a small budget and poor lighting then you've missed something special. The story is good fun, the two characters are instantly likable and the direction, apart from the poor lighting, is actually quite good. Williamson seems to only do a single take, there is a great scene where Pryor can't stop laughing for no apparent reason and instead of re-filming, he keeps it in. You've got to love him for that. Relatively overlooked and rarely seen, Fred Williamson's Adiós Amigo isn't the Blaxploitation it's often labeled as, it is in fact a very funny Western worth seeking out.
