WolfCop
Dir: Lowell Dean
2014
***
Lowell Dean's comedy horror; WolfCop, has the grindhouse style poster, the exploitation styling and an idea that is destined for cult status. However, it's really not all that. It didn't disappoint but it was a slow film to get started. It has a seriousness about it that gives it a level of professionalism that you wouldn't expect from the title. It's also very well directed. It just isn't funny enough. A film about a WolfCop should be funny but the jokes are seldom. The film gets welcomingly random in places, particularly when WolfCop decides to supe his car for no other reason than 'its cool' and less welcomingly odd when he makes love to a shape-shifter in one of his own police cells. It's extremely hit and miss but some brilliant make-up, a great scene whereby a man gets his face ripped off and the general idea make this a comfortable 3 star horror.
