Parlez-moi de la pluie (AKA Let it Rain)
Dir: Agnès Jaoui
2008
***
Agnès Jaoui'Let it Rain is a fairly slow starter but patience is rewarded as the humour, as subtle as it is, shines through. It's a simple story of self-importance with a Eric Rohmer feel about it with a similar charm but without the greatness of script. The real reason to watch this film is for the brilliant performances by Jean-Pierre Bacri and Jamel Debbouze who play off each other wonderfully. I would argue that it is the best performance for both actors, I wonder why neither has done much since. A gentle (if not a little slow) worth while film that I guarantee will raise a smile but I can't promise you'll remember watching it in a few years time.
