Tango & Cash
Dir: Andrey Konchalovskiy
1989
***
I don't really share the nostalgic love for Andrey Konchalovskiy's 80's action comedy Tango & Cash that most do. It's your typical cop/buddy film made in the late 80's, Sylvester Stallone tones it down a bit by wearing a suit and a pair of glasses and Kurt Russell takes his last bow as the typical action hero stereotype (he's made action films since I know but not quite of the white vest variety). If i'm being brutally honest it is likable as much as it's forgettable but it does have the odd great line and a supporting cast including old favorites Brion James and Jack Palance and also the lovely Teri Hatcher. It mostly falls flat but of all the cheesy action films made in the decade it's certainly not one of the worst.
