Red Dog
Dir: Kriv Stenders
2011
**
Red Dog tells a wonderful true story and is a visually rich film, directed beautifully with a good cast of actors. Unfortunately the story is told badly and a couple of dodgy supporting actors are given far too much screen time and spoil it somewhat. That and the disjointed way the story is told (told to some random cardboard-cut-out actor for no given reason) spoils what could and should have been something special. A huge error in judgement by someone and a massive disappointment considering how lovely a story it is. The inspiration to the The Littlest Hobo maybe (without the catchy theme tune) and a missed opportunity definitely but there is enough here to enjoy and admire.
