Cemetery Junction
Dir: Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant
2010
****
Cemetery Junction is a very honest depiction of working class suburbia in 1970's England. It may seem a little forced at times but I really don't think it is exaggerated at all, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant rightly decided it really didn't need to be, life was as funny/shocking/shockingly funny as this. The ignorant attitudes are still alive and well in some parts but no matter what walk of life you are from, you will have met someone like the Grandmother at some point in time. I'm not a big Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant fan but this was a pleasant surprise. Funny and touching and unfiltered for a greater audience, maybe it didn't do as well as it could have but it keeps its integrity which is very refreshing these days.
