Huge
Dir: Ben Miller
2010

Ben Miller is generally quite funny on TV and I like The Armstrong and Miller Show which he wrote and starred in so I expected the same sort of comedy from Huge. I couldn't have been more wrong or let down. A film about two unfunny comedians should be funny no? Well it is not. At all. In fact it is consistently painful to watch, especially when you see the talent that is in it. Miller has lots of funny friends who all star in silent cameos but bring absolutely no laughs what so ever. Even as a serious drama it fails, as Noel Clarke couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, his Richard Ayoade impersonation is embarrassing. Johnny Harris's moody and unpredictable skin-head comes across more as confused and gormless but to his credit he finally manages to pull it off in Welcome to the Punch after years of trying. Maybe he'll be funny in 20 years time with practice. This film couldn't be more misjudged if it tried, a sad entry in British film, no wonder we're in trouble when this crap is being green-lit!
