Paper Man
Dir: Kieran Mulroney, Michele Mulroney
2009
***
Paper Man meanders somewhat when it should be melancholic and its attempts at humour don't always work but it does contain that certain something that all good American Independent films have. American Independent films of this ilk never really excel but are generally reliable when it comes to originality and engagement, this is certainly the case with Paper Man. For what it lacks in pace it makes up for in likability. Everyone likes Jeff Daniels. He is on typically good form, add the genius idea of the imaginary friends (and a couple of key scenes that concern them) and what you have is an above average feel good indie that isn't as forgettable as many of the others.
