Hitchcock
Dir: Sacha Gervasi
2012
***
Most fans know that Hitchcock took a huge risk making Psycho and went to huge lengths to try and protect all its twists and turns and to great success. This film gives us just that but with no other real insight. I'm afraid I wasn't sold on Anthony Hopkin's portrayal, once again Toby Jones played the better part and once again it goes unnoticed. The Girl was a much better production than this and told a much more interesting story. I did like the details, the Ed Gein bits and I thought Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, Danny Huston and Toni Collette were all really good. Apart from that, it just feels like a really good TV film rather than a great Hollywood movie that it should have been.
