One of the better English comedies of the late 90's early 00's but unfortunately that's not really saying much. The Parole Officer doesn't pander to the American audiences much which is in its favour but story-wise it's not very strong. The performances are fine and the script is actually quite good, you can see that they tried very hard, and for the best part succeeded, to keep the cliches to a minimum. Unfortunately the low budget shows and is detrimental to the overall production. What an odd career director John Duigan has had.
