Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne's successful 2011 film; The Kid with a Bike can be a frustrating film to watch at times but only because it's just so compelling and so well acted. Thomas Doret is instantly believable as the abandoned boy looking for his father and in turn looking for somewhere to belong. It's quite heartbreaking and as a viewer I just couldn't help but feel somehow involved. The subtle but effect spell that Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne cast is something of a rarity in cinema these days and long may they continue. It's a slow burner but the conclusion more than makes up for it, it's certainly one of my favorites of 2011 and probably the most rewarding. Brothers Jean-Pierre & Luc Dardenne are a force to be reckoned with.
