A Good Year
Dir: Ridley Scott
2006

Back in 2006 it was getting hard to remember when Ridley Scott had last made a good film. A Good Year was bloody awful, especially when we all know how good a director he is. It contains some quite terrible acting by a very good cast, pretty cinematography spoiled by lazy camera tricks and what could have been a nice story but with a crap script. Russel Crowe's character had absolutely no structure or depth what so ever, I can't decide if it was because he was miscast or if he himself was confused due to Scott not really connecting enough with the project. Probably a bit of both. I mean, it's one thing for an Englishman not to understand French culture (especially when you've researched) but for an Englishman to get England so wrong is unforgivable. Is this for an American audience by any chance? If so, why did you take the piss out of them? Don't try and tell me it wasn't for the Americans because I think you'll find the French call aubergines, aubergines. Not eggplants. For goodness sake.
