Howling IV: The Original Nightmare
Dir: John Hough
1988
*
Howling IV: The Original Nightmare is a fairly boring affair, it may be closer to the original story but at this point I'm not sure who cares. How do you follow a film like Howling II: The Marsupials, a film with the first ever (and probably last ever) appearance of Werekangeroos (sometimes dressed as Nuns)? John Hough, quite wisely, decided to forget the first two sequels and make a direct follow up to the classic original. The film had some clever ideas but they are poorly executed, it started with some great gory scenes but then lost momentum and dragged itself along to the final credits. It also only had about three minutes worth of werewolf action in it which is pretty poor for a Werewolf film. Unfortunately even the brilliant melting man scene towards the end couldn't save it.
