Everything about Tomas Alfredson's adaptation of John le Carré's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy oozes style and is suitably distinguished. The performances, from an impressive cast that includes Gary Oldman (perfectly cast as George Smiley), Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Toby Jones, Mark Strong and John Hurt, are second to none. The direction is stunning and the set pieces/clothes/props etc are just amazing. It certainly took me back a bit to my childhood growing up in London. The pace of the film matches the book perfectly, the actors are exactly as I'd pictured them, it's not often you see an adaptation as accomplished as this, it is a visual treat full of powerhouse performances. Highly recommended.
