Rough Sea at Dover
Dir: Birt Acres, Robert W. Paul
1895
****
Another example of primitive yet pioneering cinema, a simple experiment in filming the movement of water. It's nothing spectacular by today's standards but it is important and also beautiful none the less. Birt Acres remains a key player of early film but he and his work are often shamefully overlooked.
